BPS Chemical – Helena, Arkansas

The BPS Inc. chemical plant, located in West Helena, Arkansas, manufactured pesticides. In 1997 there was an explosion in which the surrounding community was exposed to harmful chemicals released into the air. Chemicals remaining after the blast caught fire and smoldered for several days, releasing even more toxic materials into the air.
